Langdon Lantern Pendant Large Brass

The Langdon Lantern Pendant Large is an open-frame lantern in brass, its glass panels set within a silhouette that owes more to carriage lamps and old hallway fittings than to anything fashionable. At 611mm tall and 404mm across, it belongs above a stairwell or in a double-height hall — somewhere that needs a fitting with real architectural weight.

The brass frame catches and holds light rather than merely reflecting it, and the glass panels let it spill outward in every direction, softening as it falls across cornicing, brick or timber. Seen from below on the stair, the lantern reads as a piece of furniture for the room as much as a light source.

It takes four E27 bulbs (not included), so the light comes from several points rather than one hard source — worth choosing warm lamps for, since the panels leave them partly visible. The chain is adjustable to a total drop of 2650mm, enough latitude to set the height properly in a genuinely tall space. The ceiling rose measures 140mm in diameter. For indoor use.

Made by Soho Lighting, finished in brass throughout. At 9.5kg this is not a fitting to hang on a whim — the ceiling point needs to be sound and checked for load, and we'd recommend installation by a qualified electrician.
