Kemp IP65 Outdoor & Bathroom Lacquered Solid Brass Wall Light

The Kemp is a wall light built for the parts of the house that meet the weather head-on, or the steam of a morning shower: solid brass, cast and lacquered, sized to sit beside a front door or above a bathroom mirror without ever feeling like an afterthought. It holds its own beside a doorframe or mirror edge, present without crowding the wall around it. The lacquer keeps the brass bright and even, so the light it throws reads warm rather than clinical, softening the edges of a hallway at dusk or a bathroom on a cold morning. Solid brass has a weight to it that shows in the casting itself, in the way the light catches its curves rather than in a printed finish, and it holds that quality equally well whether it is fixed to render, brick, or tile. It takes one E27 bulb (not included), and we'd recommend a warm LED lamp to suit the fixture's character rather than fight it. The light is IP65 rated, so it is fully protected against dust and water jets, making it as suitable for an exposed exterior wall as for a steam-filled bathroom. Given its rating and its use around water and mains electrics, we'd recommend installation by a qualified electrician. Made by Soho Lighting in solid brass with a lacquered finish, the Kemp is built to hold its colour rather than darken with exposure — the lacquer is what keeps it looking the same on an exposed wall in year five as it did in year one. Choosing lacquered over polished is a decision about whether you want the brass to stay as it arrived or change with the weather.
