Hollen Acorn Polished Brass Prismatic Glass Pendant

The Hollen Acorn is a pendant built around a prismatic cut-glass shade — Holophane-style, with the rounded acorn profile borrowed from Victorian and Georgian lantern design — topped with a solid brass cap in polished brass. At 15cm across and 21cm tall it is a compact fitting, suited to a hallway, a stairwell, or hung in a run above a kitchen island where one shape repeated sets the tone of the room.

The glass is prismatic rather than plain, so instead of a single beam it throws a scatter of soft refractions across walls and ceiling, changing character with the angle of view and the time of day.

Polished brass is the unlacquered finish. It arrives bright and darkens as it is handled and as the air gets to it, which is the difference between this and the lacquered version — that one holds the colour it came in. Neither is better; it depends whether you want the fitting to change with the house or stay as it was.

It takes a single E14 small screw-fit bulb, up to 40W, sold separately — a warm-toned lamp suits the glass better than a cool one. Rated IP20 and earthed to Class I, so it belongs in dry indoor rooms rather than bathrooms. Hung on a 3m chain that can be shortened to suit your ceiling, giving a maximum drop of 327.2cm. The ceiling rose measures Ø7.5cm and the fitting weighs 1.76kg.
