Glasshouse Lacquered Brass Clear Pendant

The Glasshouse Clear Pendant is a tall moulded glass shade held in solid brass, here in a lacquered finish. At 58.4cm high and 32.5cm across it has the presence to anchor a kitchen island or mark a hallway threshold without overwhelming it.

The glass is thick and moulded in a single piece rather than glazed in panels, so the bulb reads through it as a soft, continuous glow, with the weight of the glass visible in the way light bends at its edges. With a clear shade the lamp itself stays visible, so it is worth choosing a decorative filament bulb — it is part of what you see.

Lacquered brass is the choice that holds its colour. The polished version of this pendant is bare metal and will darken over the years; this one keeps the tone it arrived in. In a kitchen, where hands and steam reach the chain, that tends to be the practical answer.

It takes one E27 screw-fit bulb, up to 40W, sold separately. Rated IP20 for dry indoor rooms and earthed to Class I. The 3m brass chain can be shortened to suit your ceiling, giving a maximum drop of 363cm, and the ceiling rose measures Ø13cm. At 7.9kg it is heavy — the ceiling point needs to be sound, and installation is a job for a qualified electrician.
