D'Arblay Brass Rise and Fall Adjustable Pendant

The D'Arblay Rise and Fall is a pendant built around movement as much as material — a solid brass fitting engineered to drop low over a dining table or kitchen island, then rise again when the room needs to breathe. It suits spaces where the same table serves different purposes through the day, from a quiet supper for two to a gathering that needs the space opened back up. We'd recommend it wherever the ceiling height allows for genuine variation in drop, since the mechanism is the point of the piece. The brass finish is left to develop its own character over time, taking on the soft variation and warmth that only comes from handling and age rather than a factory-applied patina. With an open lampholder and no shade to interrupt it, the bulb itself becomes part of the fitting's presence. Lowered close to a table, the light gathers and warms; raised, it steps back and lets the room take over. It takes a single E27 Edison screw bulb (not included), left exposed by the open lampholder design, so the choice of lamp — filament, tinted or clear — shapes the character of the light as much as the fitting does. The rise-and-fall mechanism allows the drop height to be adjusted by hand to suit the table or surface beneath it. As with any hardwired pendant, we'd recommend installation by a qualified electrician.
