The Glasshouse Polished Brass Clear Pendant is a lantern-style light built for a kitchen island or a hallway that deserves more than a flush fitting. Its frame is solid polished brass, holding panels of clear glass that catch and hold the glow of the bulb within. At 58.4cm tall, the shade has the presence to anchor a run of units or mark a threshold without overwhelming it. Clear glass panels sit within the brass framework like the glazing bars of an old glasshouse, each pane catching the light at a slightly different angle as the bulb glows within. The polished brass reflects and warms that light rather than absorbing it, so the fitting reads as much as a source of light as a shade for one. Left bare, the filament bulb is visible through the glass, giving the whole piece the quiet, ordered look of a conservatory lantern brought indoors. The pendant takes a single E27 filament bulb (not included), and we would suggest a warm, low-wattage lamp to bring out the amber tones the glass is designed to hold. It is dimmable when paired with a compatible bulb and dimmer switch. Rated IP20 and wired to Class 1, it is intended for dry indoor spaces only, and we'd recommend installation by a qualified electrician, particularly given the option of a drop of up to 363cm on its three-metre chain.
