Claridge Lacquered Antique Solid Brass Reading & Picture Wall Light

The Claridge is built for one job: throwing a warm, directed pool of light over a book or a painting rather than filling a room. Solid brass throughout, with a swan neck and a shade that rotates, so the light can be aimed where you actually want it. It suits a hallway, a study, or either side of a chimney breast where a picture deserves its own light.

It stands 50cm tall and reaches 40cm out from the wall, with a 20.5cm shade. Fixed at reading height beside a chair, the arm is long enough to clear the back of it.

This is the lacquered finish, and that is the practical difference between it and the polished version. Lacquered aged brass holds the colour it arrived in, doesn't mark or scratch easily, and never needs polish. The polished one is bare metal and will darken year by year. Neither is better — it depends whether you want the fitting to age with the room or stay put.

It takes a single E14 small Edison screw bulb, sold separately, so the colour temperature is yours to choose. There is no integral dimmer, so pair it with a dimmable lamp and a compatible wall switch if you want adjustable brightness. Interior use only, and installation is a job for a qualified electrician.
